10Times lighter than aluminium.
10x greater compressive strength than polyurethane (PU) foams of the same density.
TAF’s patented foam materials are made from combining lignin and a thermoplastic.
Lignin is a complex organic polymer that is found in the cell walls of trees and plants. It is a by product of the paper-making process. Lignin is a renewable and abundant resource, making it a very attractive material for sustainable foam production.
A thermoplastic is a class of polymer that is softened through heating and then processed using methods such as extrusion, injection moulding, thermoforming and blow moulding. TAF Composites preferred choice of thermoplastic is the abundant supply of recycled polyethene terephthalate (rPET).

How We Make Lignin Foam
Our Manufacturing Process
To make Carbonised Foam a secondary heating step is added where our product is heating again but this time to 1000º
Benefits of Using Lignin Foam
Lower CO2
90% LESS embodied Co2 per kg of Foam.
Non Petrolium Based
Made from natural and recycled materials.
Better Price
Up to 10X Cheaper.
Superior Mechanical Properties
Up to 10x Compressive Strength, Hydrophobic, Zero Off-Gassing, UV Resistant, High fire resilience, Termite Resistant, Rot Resistant, Porous OR closed cell structure.
